New Consumer Classification System (NCCS) in lieu of the current SEC system
The SEC system introduced 18 years ago by MRSI was based on the education & occupation of the Chief Wage Earner of the household, which doesn’t correctly represent the current scenario of the Socio Economic Classification. It also doesn’t succeed well to discriminate in the Upper most & Lowest levels. The new consumer classification system (NCCS), initiated in association with the MRSI would be a household & individual aggregative-based system. There would be one classification for both Urban & Rural optimized for “Wealth/affluence of consumers. It would also indicate the propensity to spend beyond the current income. |
